The HyperView virtual video driver auto-adjusts the remote desktop to fit your browser window and while inreasing responsivness and decreasing the bandwidth needed. Turn it on for any system with a graphical interface.
What it does
Fits the desktop to your browser window. Without it, you get the system's own screen resolution, letterboxed or scrolling inside the viewer. With it, the desktop resizes as you resize the window.
Compresses screen updates. The session responds faster and uses less bandwidth.
When to turn it on
Turn it on for any system that you primarly interacti with through its desktop, with a mouse and screen.
Leave it off for:
Systems you only use from the command line. Nobody is watching a desktop, so there's nothing to resize.
Systems with a GPU you'd rather use. If the system has a powerfull GPU, leave it off so you can utalize the GPU driver.
Turn it on for new systems
Set it on the installation key, so every system installed with that key gets it:
Go to Admin > Installation Keys and create or edit a key.
Under Settings, set Virtual Video Driver to Enable.
The driver setting is number 4.
Windows uses the setting at the next viewer connection and installs the driver if it's missing.
Linux switches display mode after a one-time restart of the HyperView service.
NOTE: Choosing Disable never uninstalls the driver. HyperView stops using it and leaves it installed.
Turn it on for one system
On Systems, open the system's ⋮ menu and choose Edit.
Under Config overrides, find Virtual Video Driver and click Set.
Choose Enable and click Save.
This overrides the installation key's setting for that system only. Click Clear to go back to the key's setting. See Act on a system.
Check it worked
Connect to the system and resize your browser window. The remote desktop should resize with it.
Troubleshooting
The resolution is still fixed. On Windows, disconnect and connect again, because the setting applies at the next connection. On Linux, the HyperView service needs to restart once: open the system's ⋮ menu and choose Restart service.
